Jeremy Sutton, Painter IX Creativity: Digital Artists Handbook

To give you a taste of the amazing diversity of Painter?€™s brushes I have made a series of small paintings, shown here with short comments below them. Each painting was created using just the variants
from one brush category. Some brushes, like the Blenders, do not add color to the canvas but move paint already on the canvas. The images for these brushes were created by painting over other paintings. I refer to variants by their main names but ignore the numerical size?€“related appendages, such as ?€œ30?€ in Variable Oil Pastel 30. At the end of Chapter 1 I expand on my comments and suggestions about some of the brushes (the Cloners, Impasto, Image Hose, Liquid Ink, and Watercolor).

Treat these pictures as a convenient guide to the types of brushstrokes you can expect from each category, though not as a substitute for exploring and experimenting with the brushes on your own.
You?€™ll be amazed at what gems you discover when you do!
